The Philemon Ministry

"Home for Good: Building a Strong Public Relations Foundation for Years to Come"

Philemon Ministry & Hounding Hearts PR Team

Beginning in January 2020 and concluding in May 2020, my PR team and I assisted our client, The Philemon Ministry, in the creation of a public relations campaign. We named ourselves the Hounding Hearts PR team. Over the course of 12 weeks, we accomplished our goals through a variety of social media, fundraising and other traditional public relations tactics.

Our objectives included:

  1. Establishing a strong social media presence on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

  2. Creating compelling and eye-catching promotional material, including a monthly newsletter to highlight current board members and tell the stories of the men.

  3. Creating informational brochures about the ministry for prisons, case managers and prison chaplains in Maryland

  4. Utilizing fundraising efforts to increase regular donations for the Philemon Ministry

  5. Establishing an alumni-network with the men through LinkedIn, monthly newsletters and increased social events

  6. Gaining media exposure for the Philemon Ministry by pitching to the media to achieve appropriate media coverage for the organization.

I have posted my team's final PR and marketing portfolio that showcases the deliverables and successes we achieved with our client/community partner.

As Team Lead, I served as the liaison between our client, team and Loyola University department chair to distribute information and organize weekly marketing activities. I also assisted in leading the creative process by organizing short and long-term deadlines for proposed projects and by holding weekly benchmarking meetings with our client and team to evaluate campaign progress.

By utilizing a variety of tactics, Hounding Hearts PR’s four-person team was able to build credibility for the ministry by establishing a social media presence, craft content to highlight the nonprofit’s initiatives associated with its mission, raise awareness of the nonprofit’s needs and efficiently manage messages communicated online, as well as with the media.

Over the course of the 12-week campaign, our team worked to prepare our partners at the Philemon Ministry for engaging with key media contacts through media training. This included following key journalists on their social media accounts, reaching out through messaging and email communication and

commenting on their stories.

Additionally, our team overcame numerous obstacles, including distance learning challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, to produce successful deliverables and provide the Philemon Ministry with a strong foundation for a long-lasting PR and social media campaign after the conclusion of the spring 2020 semester.
